How I Saved My wife

Image
So, we are starting with this story from a NIB reader. I loved it... Photo credit- afrophire.com The first time I met her was many years ago at a close friends birthday party. We were introduced and somehow during a drinking game, she had too much to drink and fell asleep on the tiled floor. I was new in town and was lodged in the hotel where the party was going down. I didn’t know who she was, but I remember that i got tired of staring at her almost nude and pale body sprawled on the cold tiles. Since none of my friends wanted to leave the party, I had to carry her to my room that night.

Valentine’s Day in Nigeria

Image
It is the fourteenth day of February and I almost danced on my toes as my eyes darted to my wrist watch for the umpteenth time today. I must confess that I have been unable to sit still since the beginning of February. My anxiety heightened with each rising of the sun. The previous day, I had gone shopping for a lovely Red gown and a special gift for my sweetie in readiness for our very special day. Don't get excited yet, it is definitely not his birthday nor our Anniversary. It’s actually St. Valentine’s Day! If you are reading this and you are not a Nigerian, I can bet my lovely red gown...wait, definitely not my gown, but I'm sure you are wondering if Nigerians celebrate Valentine’s Day. Well, it’s no longer a secret that in Nigeria, Valentine’s, Val's or Lovers' day is always celebrated in grand style...

Who needs Vals day Stress

Nikky, I have decided to share my thoughts with you tonight although I have a feeling you might find it hard to publish it on your blog. Don't take this the wrong way, I love your narrative of how Nigerians celebrate Valentine's Day, but sincerely I do not think we have anything to celebrate. In fact I think Nigerians are delusional and love copying everything foreign. We too like copy and paste joor! I'm fed up with the idea of people exerting all their energy just to impress a supposed loved one on a day someone else decided should be special. To make matters worse, the story about St. Valentine is vague and shrouded in mystery. In my opinion, my better half and I deserve to pick a day we consider special. We should not be bullied into accepting February 14th as Lovers’ Day.

Gifts for your Man - What does he want for Christmas?

Image
Its the Christmas season again! As usual, my happy mode was activated on the first day of December and I have started counting down in earnest. Christmas is my best season of the year, well apart from Valentine’s Day of course. It signifies the birth of our savior and a season for end of year parties, love feasts, weddings, long vacations and GIFTS!! The vacation is the best part and I have started making plans for a long, fun filled and peaceful vacation with my family and friends.

AWESOME GIFTS FOR YOUR NIGERIAN LADY 3

Image
Is she still having doubts? Do you feel the previous gift options are not magical enough? Then, relax and read on. 2 – MONEY . Money makes the world go round or so they say . F or most Naija ladies, money is the spice of a true and stable relationship. Almost every Naija girl dreams of having or aspires to have a wealthy and generous man in her life. Ladies have needs and a stuffed animal or an expensive bracelet, though adorable and memorable, would not pay her bills or solve most of the problems she is not bothering you with.

AWESOME GIFTS FOR YOUR NIGERIAN LADY 2

Image
Before we start, let me point out that there is always an exception to every general rule. The following suggestions are definitely not applicable to all Nigerian ladies. That said, let’s get down to it: 5 – Dream date – This came up as the first step to take if you want to gain and keep y our Naija girl’s attention. To win her over or keep her glued to your side without doubts, your perfect gift to her should be an expensive date at an expensive place. Even if it is not a five star, it has to be something that she is not used to. A place that would make her feel like a celebrity or a star actress in a movie. The more expensive, the merrier for her and the more points you would score. Don’t forget to pay the bill even if she offers to help out.

AWESOME GIFTS TO MELT HER HEART 1

Image
DO YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW TO KEEP HER GLUED TO YOUR SIDE FOREVER? THEN READ ON... G ifts! Everyone loves a little package.   Even the good book encourages us to give more so as to receive more. For some people, there is more joy in giving than in receiving. For most ladies, receiving gifts at any time is sheer bliss. These ladies do not see it as being selfish or Nigerian, in fact, receiving wrapped packages are part of the wooing process and a sure way   of showing appreciation for what they go through for their men... clearing my throat Guess you are wondering why I should be discussing this topic, besides gifts are personal, right? Well, I love sharing gifts with friends and I have seen and experienced first hand the whole man and woman drama,SORRY RELATIONSHIP, so I know how hard it is to go in search of a gift item that would not be frowned at or dumped in the trash can, a gift that would tell volumes about the depth of your feelings and the energy you exerted while ri

THE INTERNET AND ME...

Image
MY INSPIRATION FOR THIS ARTICLE? THE RECENT PURCHASE OF WHATSAPP BY FACEBOOK Before the advent of mobile phones, digital cameras and internet data plans, most Nigerians were very reluctant to release their personal details, information or picture s to anybody not closely related to them. In fact, I can still recall that giving a stranger your personal details was almost a taboo, forgetting your picture with a displeased lover was a bad omen and the reason behind strings of ill luck. Ladies only sent their pictures to prospective husbands and in the event of the relationship failing irredeemably, the couple ensured that they recovered their pictures and personal items from each other. Those days are however, gone and I do not know whether to say sadly or gladly. With the advent of the internet and the mobile phone s , Nigerians broke out from the shackles of being very security conscious or overly secretive and embraced the world of the World Wide Web . We delved into

THE STORY OF PETE AND EMILIA WILL DEFINITELY SEND CHILLS DOWN YOUR SPINE. SIT BACK AND ENJOY IT ********** “Nikky he proposed!” “OMG!” I screamed and hugged Emilia tightly. She happily raised her left hand and showed off the glittering and expensive engagement ring. “Girl we are celebrating this and it’s my treat!” I said with finality. Emilia managed to sneak out of the hospital and we had a grand celebration.   Pete and Emilia had met at the hospital. He was involved in a ghastly motor accident and Emilia was the only doctor on call when they rushed him to the small clinic. She had saved his life. Pete became fond of his doctor and their friendship grew stronger. After Pete was discharged, their love extended beyond the hospital walls. Emilia had peace with Pete unlike her previous turbulent relationships. Pete was crazy about his girl. Their love for each other was made in heaven or so we thought.

All About Love (Lindy's Story)

Image
Lindy's story made my day. I hope you are touched as well... "When I look at him, I have a broad smile on my face and peace in my heart because he is the best part of my life. The best thing to have happened to me. Having him by my side makes trials of life feel like a bed of roses" I met my heartthrob during my National Youth Service Corps. I was posted to a remote village in the middle-belt region. While I served, all I could think of was how I needed God to make time fly, literally fly. Mid way into service, I met this tall, dark and handsome young man, TDH as the ladies would say. He had the most amusing dress sense I had ever come across. It was love at first sight, I must say. However, after 24hrs with him, every single excitement or feeling I thought I had, became as dead as a doornail. They don't tell us in the movies that love at first sight does not last for too long. He acted like he knew everything. Acted like "little Mr Per

UNCONDITIONAL LOVE..(Okey's Story)

My Name is Okey. I am an Architect and like I informed you yesterday, on the 14 th of this year 2014, I shall propose to my girlfriend of one year and friend of many years. I love your stories and since it’s the love season, I want to share my story with you. “See fine girls.” My kid brother whispered in my ear. It was a Sunday and service was about to start. I followed his gaze and saw two very beautiful and gorgeously dressed ladies headed towards us. They took up the vacant chairs beside ours. My kid brother sat up and smiled at them. They gave him a distasteful look and turned away. “Aint we in luck? God just answered my prayers.” He whispered again. We? I thought and decided to focus on the reverend and God all through the service. No beautiful Nigerian lady would have time for a jobless fellow like me. To me, talking to a lady was a crime and getting married was a dream that would never come true. So I thought until I bumped into Tina. She came into my li

All About Love ( Diana's story)

Image
Concluding Part of Diana's Story...     This could not be happening ! Diana thought as she placed her phone beside her leather bag on the passenger's seat . Her career was in jeopardy! She was already ten minutes late for her meeting with the company’s major client all because a careless driver decided to park his car right behind her car. Being late for appointments was alien to her and for the first time since she resumed with the new multinational company, she had to call her clients to extend the time of the meeting. She stared at the guards who was beside her car with displeasure. They were obviously helpless and reluctant. After some minutes of dragging their feet, one of them mustered up courage went off to get the owner of the car . That was five minutes ago, she thought irately while staring at her wrist watch. Hissing impatiently , Diana got down from her car and turned towards the second security guard...

Enjoy!! ******************* "I am in love!" Diana announced the moment she stepped into my home. I closed my front door and watched her do a little dance before flopping onto my couch. "What did you say?" I asked while taking a step towards her and the couch. "He is just wonderful!" She exclaimed. I had actually heard her the first time. I just wanted to be sure that my ears were not failing me. There is something you need to know about Diana. She is a nerd. A cool headed, kind, very ambitious, focused, adorable, religious, extremely reserved, you can't get under her skin kind of person. The word "love" was n
