Ripples, Season Finale

Image
The evening wind picked up and chased dead leaves along the partly muddy road as Kene tried to figure out what just happened but his brain refused to process the events surrounding him that evening.  I am probably drunk and must have dozed off somewhere after last night’s birthday parte; a part of him analyzed. But I stopped taking alcoholic beverages a long time ago after ... he suddenly halted that trail of thought. He didn't feel the need to rouse the ghosts from his past after the emotionally draining evening.  I am certainly not drunk and the pain in my chest from that brutes elbow was too real to be a dream. That guy nearly killed me for nothi... “Congratulations sir.” A husky voice startled him back to reality. It was one of Sade's men. Kene stared at the man who was beaming at him as if he had just won a betting game. He had assumed the man had left with Sade. How come he didn't feel his presence earlier? “My name is Brendan. We will get to know each other better on

He grabbed Kene by the shirt, shoved him  backwards and pinned him on Bam Bam's car.  Kene winced from the impact and pushed  against his rock solid chest but his struggles were like that of a kid pushing against a bag of bricks. He gasped for breath as the huge man's elbow dug into his chest, holding him in place.  Bam Bam rubbed a finger against her brow and sighed loudly; "Leash your dog Dapo. You can't go about assaulting innocent people!" "Let me go! I didn't do anything!"  Kene yelped and fought harder to push the hulk off him but this only infuriated the man and he increased the pressure on kene's chest. The latter screamed out as pain tore through his body.  Bam Bam glared at the unyielding Dapo;

The woman sure has some spunk. Kene thought and decided to enjoy the unfolding drama between the two. He folded his arms across his chest and leaned on the car.  “Sade, you will be my wife someday so I will advise you to quit mingling with peasants.” “Your wife? You really need to wake up from this drug induced slumber. I will NOT Marry you and while trying to get over your delusion, I take exceptions to you being rude to my Personal Assistant.” “Your WHAT!”

[ Previously  E.9 ] "See who left the comfort of his mansion today." The blank expression on her face shifted and was replaced by undisguised disgust. Dapo fumed inwardly but grinned at her instead; "Sweetie that is not how to gree..." His words trailed off when the drivers door bursted open at that moment and a man tumbled out of Sade's car. Dapo's keen eyes raked over the man as his bodyguards moved closer to protect him.  Man? This was no man! All he could see infront of him was a rascal. Someone not even fit to mow his lawn. His insides  cringed as his anger took a new form with the realization that Sade had been ignoring him because of the bum.  He watched as the low life rushed over to Sade's side and took her hands in his;

Continue from E.8 ] A sharp rap on her window made her unlock the doors. Pushing the drivers door open she smiled up at someone, got out of the car and banged the door shut. There is no way I am going to jail just because of a car bumper , Kene thought as he hastily tried to open his door. After some seconds of staring at the door in search of a handle he sat back confused.  "How do I get out? Where is the handle bikonu?" He looked at the drivers door and back at his side as he tried to figure out how to exit the car which was totally different from his old model or any model he had ever had the privilege of being inside.   "Did she lock me inside?" He asked himself while a startled expression settled on his tired face;  "I am trapped! She said I'm going nowhere so she trapped me in her car!  I'm finished!"

Recession, Christmas and You

Image
From Covid-19 lockdown and resultant loss of jobs by most Nigerians to the sudden hike in petrol pump price and electricity tariff. Out of frustration over insecurity, bad governance and police brutality our youths hit the streets chanting EndSars . This was followed by allegations of shooting at peaceful protesters, deaths, massive looting of covid-19 palliatives  from warehouses to attacks on shops and businesses of innocent retailers by suspected hoodlums. Just when we were starting to shuffle our feet, tighten our belts and motivate ourselves that impossibility is nothing, news of recent unabated gruesome attacks and massacre of our local  farmers  hit the media despite the harsh reality that we are being dragged under the tides by the second recession  battering our economy.

I Know the question on your mind is: what happened to Nikky? She no longer blogs! Yeah I understand. But frankly a lot has been happening in my personal life, the post Covid-19 lockdown era has been super hectic and left me with no spare time for blogging or any interests.  Notwithstanding, since it's my best month of the year (aside August of course 😁) I will try to get a story or two in here and on nikkyivyblog especially for all the NIB family members who buzzed me with messages and calls (thank you for all the love).  There's a catch though.  For me to be able to keep to this promise I will need encouragement from you all.  So, guys you all need to like and love the stories.
