Fear of the Unknown...

Image
Google defines Anxiety as a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome. Image credit - amarudontv.com That definition clearly defined the young lady I met some weeks back. Mirabel is a hardworking and zealous staff of a popular company who has passed up promotions at work simply because it would expose her to public speaking and attending of meetings on behalf of the organization. According to her, she has run out of excuses for rejecting her merited promotion, so her next plan is to find another job that would not put her anywhere in front of a crowd. Her words reminded me of how I used to be.

I met a great man...

Image
sir James Olusola Adesida, KSM 1952 - 2016 Great men are hard to come by, but I must confess that I met one. A man who derived joy from putting smiles on sad faces. A man who would gladly put the needs of others above his. A real man and a true Christian.

CONFESSIONS IV

Find CONFESSIONS III   I was still trying to reactivate my brain when the crashing sound became louder and chaotic. The sound was  from the bathroom and it suddenly dawned on me that someone had broken into my mansion! Hastily pulling off the heavy duvet, I decided to get my bride to safety before accosting whoever the intruder was. Instinctively, I reached out beside me to wake her up, but her side was empty. I was alone in bed. Nikky, it is not a secret to my friends and family, even my foes that I had a violent teenage life. At a time, I hustled hard drugs; guns; girls and ended up in a rehab center. At those times, I had intense fears and got to face many demons. But that night, the moment I felt the absence of my new bride in the semi darkness, a strange panic seized my soul. Numerous crazy questions ran through my bewildered head as I pulled out my Full Metal Pump Action Shotgun and advanced towards the bathroom door.

Wedding Bells...

photo credit: movemag.co.za I have never celebrated Vals day with any special man before. Vals day for me always  started and ended either with destitutes, motherless children or prayer sessions in church. I am what people call a church girl. My friends would drag me to events in the hope that I would get a suitor, but it never worked out. I was never relaxed at such events. Many tried to arrange men for me, but somehow these men had different values from mine. Don't get me wrong dear, you know I am sociable and not ugly nor deformed. I am a very active, fun loving, beautiful and resourceful woman. But all I ever wanted was a man who would lead me to God and not away from him.Years sped by and yet nothing happened. I got tired of sewing asoebi for others. I would wet my pillows at night with my tears, it was as if God had forgotten me. I was not getting younger and somehow my body was beginning to yearn for things only a man could give.

He Saved Me...

Image
Nikky mine is not a long story, but a testimony. Some years back, I went on an outing with my girlfriends. It was a public holiday and we hung out at many places. Finally we decided to end the day at the pool side of a popular guest house. I knew next to nothing about swimming but they convinced me to hire a bikini and chill beside the pool. There was a small pool party going on that day and being girls, we were invited to join the party. The music was loud, the party was rocking and before long my girls were whisked away by some guys. The pool was empty as everybody was dancing and singing along to the latest beat. I didn't feel like dancing.  My legs were in the water, I was having fun videoing with my phone, splashing water and sipping from a bottle I was offered. I didn't know what was inside, but I liked how the liquid made me feel. Till today, I still have no idea what

Till Death Do Us Part...

photo credit - www.african-sweetheart.com My fiancee met me nine months ago near my family house. I had hit my mid-thirties and my whole family was on my case. All they wanted was for me to get married before it was too late. My friends and relations had introduced me to various girls, in fact at a point I had to travel to another state just to meet up with a girl, but none appealed to me. My case was near hopeless and I also gave up on finding a nice and decent girl to marry. I was almost frustrated by the whole marriage issue and to make matters worse, I got a call from my parents summoning me home to discuss a critical family matter. Reluctantly and with a heavy heart, I traveled home. As expected, my case was the basis for the family meeting. As the eldest, everybody wanted to hear a date from me. Tired of the whole drama, I decided to spend the whole day at my friend’s house.

How I Saved My wife

Image
So, we are starting with this story from a NIB reader. I loved it... Photo credit- afrophire.com The first time I met her was many years ago at a close friends birthday party. We were introduced and somehow during a drinking game, she had too much to drink and fell asleep on the tiled floor. I was new in town and was lodged in the hotel where the party was going down. I didn’t know who she was, but I remember that i got tired of staring at her almost nude and pale body sprawled on the cold tiles. Since none of my friends wanted to leave the party, I had to carry her to my room that night.

When You are Forced to Walk the Street Nude...

Image
I get pissed off when unruliness becomes the order of the day and Law Officers who are supposed to maintain Law and Order in our society look the other way. Why would a man escape being charged to court for humiliating his wife and forcing her to walk the street nude just because she cheated on him? Nikky will never encourage infidelity or the breaking of a promise to be faithful and sexually exclusive, but forcing another man’s daughter or the mother of your children to parade the street naked because of your broken heart or battered ego is demeaning, barbaric, definitely unacceptable, unlawful and an offense.  The reality is that being a brute and tarnishing that woman’s image will never make you feel any better and you won’t be the first to be cheated on. Whoever does that to anyone should be locked up behind bars. I used to think it was a Nigerian thing because I have read numerous stories of heart broken husbands who, after catching their wives in the act of infide

My Possession...

It was a terrible day. Things started falling apart right from the moment I woke up, so I was not surprised when the pretty bank teller grew fangs. Summing it up as one of those days, I hastily hit the exit button when they finally concluded my transaction. Sighing with relief I pulled out my portable palm top to run through my numerous plans for the day but I instinctively looked up. My breath caught in my throat. Across the busy highway was the answer to my prayers.

One Night 3

CONTINUE FROM 2 Her family had gone to every spiritual house in town all in an effort to discover what actually happened to our adorable Emilia. They have refused to give up hope.  Over the years, many Nigerians have disappeared without any trace. Dare Odufowokan, Yetunde Oladeinde and Joke Kujenya examined this worrying phenomenon in their article titled;   Missing: How Nigerians are disappearing without trace   and I want to share it with you . LOSING a relative or a loved one to death can be traumatic. It is, however, worse when such people are missing and you are not sure whether they are dead or alive. This is what happens to people who learn that those they treasure so much have vanished. All over the world, frantic efforts have been made by friends, relatives and loved ones of missing people in the past. Reported and known cases are taken seriously and followed up to ensure that they are found. A few weeks back, protesters took over streets in Islamabad, Pakista
