Do the little things. In the future when you look back, they'd have made the greatest change.           Nike Thaddeus __________________________________   Damn! She was indeed beautiful. He had thought her social media pictures were photo-shopped but she had proven him wrong. Despite the tears and traumatic events of the night she was still stunning, but far from the happy girl he enjoyed starring at her pictures every night ever since he got her details for the job and started trailing her on social media. Too bad some higher powers needed her to be delivered, Stanley thought with a slight pang of pity. He dropped her arm and tried to focus on retying her with the rope they had stashed in the room.

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart. Helen Keller _________________________ He rushed over and pulled off the bag only to see her gasping for air. Her pupils were flipping in a strange way so he pulled off the cloth covering her mouth and stepped back confused. She can’t die. She has to be delivered alive! “Breathe! Please breathe!”  He nearly yelled as he rushed back to her side. hurriedly cut the ropes securing her upper body to the chair and pressed her forward so her head was touching her knees; a technique he had learned many years ago. He hoped i t would work on the gasping girl.

This story is dedicated to families who have lost loved ones and anyone who has been a victim of or experienced the horrors of the various violent gangs plaguing our society. May God console and give you His peace even as we continue praying and striving for a better #Nigeria Nikky . ______________________________ DONT GET CONFUSED, JUST CLICK HERE TO CATCH UP ON ALEX'S PART OF THE STORY... DONE? NOW CONTINUE ****************************** “Lex, there’s trouble”. Alex turned in time to see Tony headed towards him. He was sweating as if he had run all the way. When they arrived Tony had offered to go in search of Dapper with the community's vigilante group.  Alex could not understand why he wanted to involve them when Dapper was probably at home already. But Tony had insisted and he had let him have his way. His focus was on teaching Brad a dire lesson so he was confused to see Tony panting and agitated. "Guy, what happened to you? Why are you panting and sweating in this

“Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” – Thomas A. Edison _____________________ “The moment you do the delivery, ditch the ride and come home. We'll go to the bank in the morning.”   The older of the two men whispered as he dusted off his trouser.   “Remind me again. Why must I be the one to deliver this package?” The fair young man with neatly trimmed afro hairstyle asked  while keeping an eye on the girl tied to a chair across from them in the nearly empty and dusty room. A single bulb carelessly painted red to reduce its brightness swung and danced loosely from the low roof casting eerie shadows on the damp walls as the night breeze seeping into the room from the broken ceiling boards fanned at it .   “Ahn Ahn! We can’t start this again. I thought we have settled that issue already. My missus, n tantaofiong mmi," he smiled briefly and continued; "she  might go into labor anytime...”   “Fine fin

“ Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.” –  Babe Ruth FLASHBACK “Dad please, don’t start with that, I will be back before you know it. Besides, Alex said that he would assist with my redeployment after the camp.” I rolled my eyes as the words escaped my lips, suddenly wishing camp could be extended. I was dressed and ready to embark on my trip to the neighboring state where, all thanks to my meddling brother, I was posted for the compulsory national youth service. Growing up with a brother like him was a cross too heavy for my tender shoulders. It was like having a steady, overbearing bodyguard entrusted on you without your consent and our parents would always wave off my complaints. As we got older, he became less overbearing but more protective. I had thought having a career or falling in love would distract him from interfering in my life but that was wishful thinking. He ended up convincing his girlfriend, friends, and their friends to join his crus

NB: there is a scene of violence against a woman towards the end but don't worry, nobody was harmed. Kindly skip if you will be emotionally affected.  ********* “We count our miseries carefully, and accept our blessings without much thought.”  Chinese Proverb _____________ I twisted the truth. Anyway,   It wasn't actually a lie .  She nodded and continued with her prayers. I shut the front door behind me as Tony was stepping into our compound. “Open the gate.”  I commanded and got behind the wheel of my Mercedes-AMG. The family business had picked up vigorously after I fully took over and yes, I was doing well enough. But tonight, business was the least thing on my mind. I was furious. Somehow, I managed to drive out of the compound calmly so as not to raise my mother’s suspicion. The moment Tony closed the gate and joined me, I sped off into the night. “Where is this costume shop?” “Eerr near the new Chinese joint...I’m sorry bro. He promised it was just the costume and si

We are each of us angels with only one wing and we can only fly by embracing one another.  - Luciano De Crescenzo _____________________ “ Where is she?” I asked the moment he answered my call.   “Brad asked her to stay behind after the rehearsal.”   “And you left her and went home?” Rage ran through my veins.   “It’s not what you think. They went to pick up the costume after his mistress left. I saw them driving away and my car was bad so there was no way I could have gone after them on foot without blowing my cover. You know your sis is too smart...” I hated excuses and he was throwing flimsy ones at me. He had no reason for failing at his duty. I cursed profusely and nearly threw my phone against the fence where I had gone to make the call for fear of my mother overhearing my conversation. The thought of my sister driving off with that fool made my blood boil.  Tony would get his punishment later; I thought. Right now I needed to focus on my sister.   “So why is she not hom

"Weeping  may  endure  the  night  but joy comes in the morning.”  -Psalm 30:5. -------- Fresh tears seeped out of my swollen eyes and ran down my excreta designed face.  "God, please help me...." I murmured a silent prayer. ******* “Where did you say Dapper went to?”  I asked while flipping through the newspaper in my hands. I had been home for two hours and it was almost 2100 hours and there was still no sign of my kid sister.  “Where else if not that troupe."  My mother explained with a deep frown creasing her beautiful face. She was sitting across from me in our large and  tastefully  furnished living room. "Oh I totally forgot she is still with them."

“A mind is like a parachute. It doesn't work if it is not open.” ―  Frank Zappa ___________________ I remember it was a moonless night and the route was darker than I had anticipated. Refusing to be bothered by the stillness and eerie shadows of the giant grasses swaying to the gentle breeze, I pulled out my phone from my denim pocket and turned on the flashlight to make out the fading foot path. Memories of my brother and I running home from school along that path filled my mind with nostalgia. Alex and I had great moments as kids. He was my brother, best friend and bodyguard. It was hard for him to leave the community when he had to take over the family business and other changes he preferred to keep to himself.   My foot caught against a lose stone,I lost my balance and caught myself before I could fall. It was all the Chairman's fault; I mumbled and blamed him for reneging on his myriad of campaign promises one of which was that he would transform the community and brighten

" Let us not look back in anger, nor forward in fear, but around in awareness"  James Thurber ****** “I know what it looked like but...it-it’s not what you think. Mabby and I...” Mabby? He calls her Mabby?  I paused my battle with the chopsticks and looked up to meet his eyes . What I saw in them came as a surprise. The answers I had been seeking were laid bare in them. It felt like looking into his soul. It was not a casual fling and Brad would never let go of her.  I dropped my cutlery and pushed away from the table. Somehow, I didn’t want to engage in that conversation. It was none of my business and if I had magical powers, I would erase my entrance into that room earlier today. “I didn’t see anything earlier..." I lied and averted my gaze, "w hatever you do with your time is none of my business. I appreciate working with Mrs. Mabel and I am enjoying the experience with the troupe. I love being part of the team. I actually think this Chinese food is tasty but I

“We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.” ― Plato ******* Picking up his keys, he headed out of the rehearsal room. The moment I stepped out, he turned off the lights and locked the door. I followed his movement with my eyes and that was when I saw him in the eyes of all the drooling girls in the troupe for the first time. Brad definitely deserved a rank in the league of handsome men. His physique and rippling muscles which could not be concealed by his shirt revealed that he either was more than a card carrying member of one of the gyms in town or a dedicated sportsman. He had a compelling personality and friendly eyes. From his carefully groomed face and spotless fair skin, which I had seen severally during rehearsals whenever he showed off in any of his numerous sleeveless T-shirts, it was obvious he put in extra care into his appearance. My conclusion; Brad was previously and still a playboy who kn
