AFLOAT SEASON 2 Ep. 4

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart.

He rushed over and pulled off the bag only to see her gasping for air. Her pupils were flipping in a strange way so he pulled off the cloth covering her mouth and stepped back confused. She can’t die. She has to be delivered alive!

“Breathe! Please breathe!”

He nearly yelled as he rushed back to her side. hurriedly cut the ropes securing her upper body to the chair and pressed her forward so her head was touching her knees; a technique he had learned many years ago. He hoped it would work on the gasping girl.

God please she can't die...if she dies before the delivery I am finished oh!

Stanley prayed silently as he glared at the girl while trying to subdue the panic rising in leaps within him.

Did I just pray? Something must be wrong with me!

He had quit any form of religion some years back; so why the f*#k am I saying a damn prayer? Stanley groaned with frustration which instantly turned into gratitude when the girl stopped coughing and slowly sat up. His attention was riveted on the girl. She was still quivering with fear or from the cough spell or both he concluded.

She looked around totally disorientated; trying to figure out where she was. Her hair which must have loosened at some point during the night, hung across her petrified face like ragged curtains. Stanley watched her take in her surrounding and before he could realize what was happening, she sprung out of the chair. Her bound legs restricted her movement and toppled her plans as he dashed over and tried to grab her upper arm. She blindly struck out at him and fought like she was demented.

Stanley managed to dodge some of her punches before grabbing her wrists and pinning her hands behind her back. She frantically wriggled her body to shake him off. He tightened his grip around her just as a strange sound escaped her lips which were inches away from his face; his ears rang like an old alarm clock. He jerked his head to the side with a low curse;

“Hey! Hey!" he furiously shook her and glued her unyielding body against his, trapping her; "you either shut up or I pull that bag over your head and leave you to die!”

Dapper froze in his arms and snapped her mouth shut. All the fight drained out of her worn out body which was still plastered on his solid figure. Without waiting for her to make anymore moves, Stanley placed her back in the chair and leaned down to be on the same eye level with her.

He pushed her hair off her face so she would see he was not there to joke around but she whimpered and twisted away from him as best as she could, eyes tightly shut. He could tell she was scared out of her mind. Of course she's scared, this is not a house warming party! Stanley chided himself for his dumb thought as he studied her features.

He knew nobody would have heard her because of the secluded spot they had picked for the job but he needed to end the shrieking sound that was emitting from her patched throat. It would not qualify as a scream, but it was hurting his ears. Thankfully, she was calmer. He only hoped she would remain like that until his business with her was done.
