You’re His Girlfriend, Not His Wife. These 4 Things Won’t Get You a Ring?

Image
This week, I am looking out for my single and married sisters, so guys kindly chill for us. This article took the words right out of my mouth. Enjoy... I packed his lunch. I got up early before my workday started to drive to his apartment, pick him up and drop him off at the office. I rearranged my schedule to make sure I could take him home. I picked up his favorite snacks when we had movie night. I used my credit card to pay for his shopping sprees and loaned him my car when he wanted to take an overnight trip to see his family. The pain of discovering he was cheating on me was magnified when I realized our whole relationship consisted of me acting like his wife—when he hadn’t even treated me like his girlfriend yet. Of course, I’ve moved on from that relationship and have found better for myself. I’m now happily married to the man of my dreams. Yet, now as a wife, wiser woman and dating coach, I’ve worked with plenty of women who still hold my old mentality.

Image
Are you married? Do you have plans of getting hitched someday? This enriching article by a relationship expert is for you... Before I was married, I enjoyed the single life. It was fun for me hanging out with my girls almost every weekend, taking road trips, not having to check in with anyone about where I was going and not having to let anyone know when I would be returning. The single life definitely had its moments of enjoyment. However, after I said “I do,” I acknowledged there were some actions that couldn’t join me in marriage. In order to make a relationship work, I believe there are certain behaviors married folks just shouldn’t do. Here are 10 signs that you may be acting single while married:

I love Naija

Image
Some Nigerians can form eh I was in a fine and expensive restaurant when two young men walked in with two ladies. It turned out I grew up with one of the men. The other young man, a full blooded Nigerian had this American accent and kept on saying "whor" meaning "what" I guess, to everything we said. He claimed that he could not understand our grammar. Our mutual friend became the translator. I didn't mind oh. Besides it could be his first time in Naija, wetin concern me.  They joined my table, placed their orders and half way through their meal, they encouraged the girls to order for some more. The girls did not waste a second. Trust Naija girls. Besides, who no like awoof?

Black Out In Nigeria

I don’t know about you, but sleeping without electricity almost every other night and having to device strategies for coping with the heat wave is nearly driving me up the wall.  Most of us accepted the reality that we cannot obtain redress from the courts for being denied our political, economic, social, cultural and developmental rights and decided to be  mini Local Governments. We started taking care of our power, water and security issues. We swallowed the bitter pill and were managing our localities until recently.

The Battle Continues...

Something very strange has been happening and I can't keep it to myself anymore. When I was younger it was very easy to kill ants, cockroaches, flies and even mosquitoes. They were very meek and would wait for you to kill them, end of story. These days, insects no wan die. Their speed the moment you try to kill them leaves you wondering if they have been to hell and back.

What is Your Priority?

Growing up was fun. It had its high and low points, but today I thank God for lessons learnt. One thing was stable though; My family. Back then, a friend of mine complained about how her parents would argue and fight in front of them. Her dad would slap his mum and mum would insult his whole generation. It was terrible and rubbed off badly on my friend who was always ready to fight even my wars. I did not understand what she was saying because my parents never fought nor yelled. I never saw them argue instead couples with problems always came to the house to settle their issues. In my young mind, my parents were perfect. As an adult I have realized that every marriage, relationship or union has it's rocky side. Life is not always sweet and rosy and being a parent is the hardest job ever. I have also realized that my parents like every other couple must have had their differences. However, whatever issue they had was settled in the bedroom and definitely never in front of their

Life Is Tough. Love Is Twisted.

When I was a kid, we had this cute little puppy. It was so cute we would cuddle and carry him around. I loved showing him off to friends and our puppy loved us so much he felt he was no longer a dog. He was happy. It happened that my dad came home one nice day with a kitten. This kitty was so cute and adorable that we forgot our cute little puppy. We could not drop kitty, started showing him off and forgot to make out time for puppy. Kitty loved to be cuddled. We noticed Puppy was sad and would yelp at kitty, but we ignored him. Besides we always fed him so what is he complaining about?

SOUL TIES

Culled from Breaking Soul Ties by Olusola Adio. Please do not stop until you get to the end... 1. I want to state that we are not here to condemn anyone or stigmatize anyone who has repeatedly fallen into sin due to #SoulTies 2. We are here to expose #SoulTies as the works of the enemy that the blood of Jesus has been shed to purge us from. 3. We are also not here to provide excuses and reasons for Christians to continue in sin due to a misunderstanding of grace. #SoulTies 4. The Bible states clearly in Romans 6:23 that “the wages of sin is death” #SoulTies is no excuse for us to continue in sin. 5. We are here to work out our salvation (that Jesus already paid with His blood) from #SoulTies according to God’s word. 6. We start with the scriptures as is our usual practice by reading from Eph 2:3. #SoulTies 7.Ephesians2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh. Conversation there means our behavioral patterns

All Na Imported...

Image
Hmmm things happen in Naija sha. On the other News, our beloved and renowned Senator who recently acquired a 2015 beautiful red car estimated to cost $24,000 (about N4.78 million) was involved in a mudslinging session at the floor of the Nigerian Senate where he allegedly accused our very own Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomole, of preferring 'imported' ladies to 'made in Nigeria' (home grown) women. I no fit shout ooo!!! If you ask me, I think this is a case of the pot calling the kettle black. History will prove that most of our Senators, Governors and top government officials have been and are still in love with imported and foreign products. If it is not a car, na house or apparels. Going for Medical checkup abroad is now like going to the bank or better still going to your backyard. If you can import luxury cars because you love them, why badmouth me for importing a beautiful wife because I love her? All na imported things na (clearing my throat) .

Fear of the Unknown...

Image
Google defines Anxiety as a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome. Image credit - amarudontv.com That definition clearly defined the young lady I met some weeks back. Mirabel is a hardworking and zealous staff of a popular company who has passed up promotions at work simply because it would expose her to public speaking and attending of meetings on behalf of the organization. According to her, she has run out of excuses for rejecting her merited promotion, so her next plan is to find another job that would not put her anywhere in front of a crowd. Her words reminded me of how I used to be.

I met a great man...

Image
sir James Olusola Adesida, KSM 1952 - 2016 Great men are hard to come by, but I must confess that I met one. A man who derived joy from putting smiles on sad faces. A man who would gladly put the needs of others above his. A real man and a true Christian.

CONFESSIONS IV

Find CONFESSIONS III   I was still trying to reactivate my brain when the crashing sound became louder and chaotic. The sound was  from the bathroom and it suddenly dawned on me that someone had broken into my mansion! Hastily pulling off the heavy duvet, I decided to get my bride to safety before accosting whoever the intruder was. Instinctively, I reached out beside me to wake her up, but her side was empty. I was alone in bed. Nikky, it is not a secret to my friends and family, even my foes that I had a violent teenage life. At a time, I hustled hard drugs; guns; girls and ended up in a rehab center. At those times, I had intense fears and got to face many demons. But that night, the moment I felt the absence of my new bride in the semi darkness, a strange panic seized my soul. Numerous crazy questions ran through my bewildered head as I pulled out my Full Metal Pump Action Shotgun and advanced towards the bathroom door.
