SHOCKER

The first time I saw such a move was in a Nollywood movie and yes, in a Hollywood movie as well.   So I had concluded that these things could only happen in movies, until recent events proved me wrong. A lovely day it was. I was glamorous and chilling at a colleague’s wedding anniversary party. It was a grand occasion. The best Comedian in town was at his best, the food was delicious and tables were quivering from the weight of various brands of alcoholic and non- alcoholic beverages. I was enjoying myself when suddenly, I noticed them. The moment they entered the hall their beauty and elegance caught my attention. My eyes darted all over the couple. The lady exuded sophistication. Her shoes were obviously worth a little fortune. My gaze shifted to her husband, his stature and the way the expensive two - button knit blazers clung to his torso would make any woman glad to have him by her side. The dolled up baby in his arms looked more like an ornament. They must be celebrit

I was ready for his jokes and the 5 minutes laughter. In fact he was late and we had been waiting for him to pop in, make us laugh and pop out. We call him Chef. Not a nickname but a real Chef. He is the best and only male chef I know.   I have tasted his croissants and trust me they blew my mind. Chef is a British and has been in Nigeria for almost a year. It is actually his first longest and first stay in West Africa. Long story cut short; Chef is a great person. So, that very beautiful day, he breezed in as usual. I enjoy such trips by the way. We all hailed him and he turned towards me and said...

RUN FOR DEAR LIFE

Image
Something happened to me recently that got me scared and totally confused. The meeting had lasted into the night and on my way home, I had stopped off briefly at a shopping mall to pick up basic house hold items. After paying at the counter, I stepped out of the brightly lit store that also served as a pharmacy and suddenly, the lights went off. PHCN ! I thought with irritation. The generator obviously seemed to be taking forever and I needed to get home already. The darkness outside was overwhelming and it would take a long trek to get to my car which was parked at the tail end of the parking lot. Without second thoughts, I stepped off the front porch and hastily walked off into the darkness.       just don't know why PHCN likes toying with the light and these people are finding it very hard to buy a new gen set even with their exurbitant prices; I sighed deeply while trying to ignore the fear creeping up my spine. Using my phone's torchlight was out of the ques

F or most Naija ladies, money is the spice of a true and stable relationship. Almost every Naija girl dreams of having or aspires to have a wealthy and generous man in her life. Ladies have needs and a stuffed animal or an expensive bracelet, though adorable and memorable, would not pay her bills or solve most of the problems she is not bothering you with.

AWESOME GIFTS FOR YOUR NIGERIAN LADY 2

Image
Before we start, let me point out that there is always an exception to every general rule. The following suggestions are definitely not applicable to all Nigerian ladies. That said, let’s get down to it: 5 – Dream date – This came up as the first step to take if you want to gain and keep y our Naija girl’s attention. To win her over or keep her glued to your side without doubts, your perfect gift to her should be an expensive date at an expensive place. Even if it is not a five star, it has to be something that she is not used to. A place that would make her feel like a celebrity or a star actress in a movie. The more expensive, the merrier for her and the more points you would score. Don’t forget to pay the bill even if she offers to help out.

AWESOME GIFTS TO MELT HER HEART 1

DO YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW TO KEEP HER GLUED TO YOUR SIDE FOREVER? THEN READ ON... G ifts! Everyone loves a little package.   Even the good book encourages us to give more so as to receive more. For some people, there is more joy in giving than in receiving. For most ladies, receiving gifts at any time is sheer bliss. These ladies do not see it as being selfish or Nigerian, in fact, receiving wrapped packages are part of the wooing process and a sure way   of showing appreciation for what they go through for their men... clearing my throat Guess you are wondering why I should be discussing this topic, besides gifts are personal, right? Well, I love sharing gifts with friends and I have seen and experienced first hand the whole man and woman drama,SORRY RELATIONSHIP, so I know how hard it is to go in search of a gift item that would not be frowned at or dumped in the trash can, a gift that would tell volumes about the depth of your feelings and the energy you exerted while ri

TESA...

T esa wiped off the tears streaming down her pale face as she trudged through the bushes.   The wind whistled in her ears and the long grasses grabbed and tore at her skin. She stumbled for the second time and paused to catch her breath. She was a long way off from where she had concealed her car in the thick grasses.  The night was cold and very dark, but she had mastered the path like the back of her hands, hands that were still quivering from dragging her heavy load through the grasses and to its final resting place. No single star had come out to witness her union with the darkness that had being her life, the overwhelming darkness that had finally swallowed her.

WHO ARE THEY?

Image
SPOT THE DIFFERENCE At the sound of their arrival, I rushed out with my dustbin and was met by a smiling young man. He greeted me amiably before taking the bin from me. I watched him hand it over to another young man who dumped the contents inside the big truck. Handing my bin over to me, they waved briefly and headed off towards the next compound. That was when the stench hit me.   Covering my face, I ran back into my compound but the pungent odor pursued me closely. I ran inside, slammed the door behind me, hurriedly shut my windows and increased the speed of the fan. The stench from that truck is best imagined. I wondered how those young men could survive days and months behind that truck! Why do they work without gloves and boots unlike their counterparts in Europe and other countries?   Are they even adequately paid for the services they render? If you are living within the FCT, I am sure you must have noticed these garbage trucks and their occupants. Their major d

BRING BACK OUR GIRLS...

Image
They never cared about the abused and neglected Nigerian child. All they cared about was the wealth and their immediate family. The abduction of the Chibok School girls and the recent outcry all over the world has exposed us to the reality that the Nigerian child has been neglected and ignored for too long. Nigeria is unarguably a country where the government remains cold to the flagrant abuse, neglect and exploitation of our children. A country where many children are exposed to inhumane treatments, a country where the right of the girl child is overlooked and scarcely respected, a country where the unlawful union of an old politician and a girl child is swept under the carpet, a country where the children are yet to feel the effects of the Child Rights Law , a country where there is no concrete plan for a better future for the children. It is therefore not surprising that many Nigerian children have been and are still being abducted, murdered, neglected and abused. It is n

ASPARTAME (SWEET KILLER)

Image
It was a very hot day, so the moment I settled down into the comfortable chair, I popped the cap of my chilled drink. I must confess that there is nothing as refreshing as drinking a chilled bottle of low sugar beverage after working so hard in the sun.I closed my eyes and enjoyed the awakening and refreshing effect of the cold liquid.   The feeling is better experienced. Just then my friend tapped my shoulder gently; “What’s that you drinking, abi you don sleep?” “Sleep kee? You need to taste this new product. It’s just wow!” “I hear you. Just make sure it does not contain Aspartame.” “Aspar what?” That was the first time I ever heard those words. We scanned the contents of my drink and there it was ; CAUTION: ASPARTAME . That was how the whole gist started. Aspartame! It has a cute ring to it but I got to know that there are over 92 different health side effects associated with it. Studies have shown that Aspartame d

AIR CRAFTS OR AIR CASKETS ?

Image
You call them air planes, I call them air caskets . Don’t get me wrong, it’s just that the thought of boarding an air craft in this country does not only make my heart to stop beating, but it definitely keeps me awake all through the night before my flight. I now understand why our leaders spend so much on private jets.  I am sure you are wondering where I am headed with this. Sincerely, I had forgotten about the last air crash and the very recent drama of how passengers almost suffocated and rioted because the air conditioning system of Arik Air Lagos to New York flight of March 31 st remained off for over an hour after passengers had boarded the air craft and the cabin doors were closed prior to take off. In fact, I had succeeded in ignoring that news until recently. Four days ago I read about another aviation drama and suddenly, all my doubts about this sector resurfaced. The news was that the windshield of an aircraft belonging to Overland Airways with 57 passengers on
