Saying I was scared would be an understatement. Nikky , I was almost paralyzed by the sudden panic attack. My heart probably stopped beating briefly before picking up speed as if it had a mission of racing out of my chest. I felt as if my spirit had abandoned my physical body. My joints froze and all I could do was tremble and stare at their figures by the door.

The moment they shoved me inside, my entire body tensed. I never had the finest things in life—I've never been a bread and butter kid—but nothing prepared me for the horror of being locked up in that dark cell . It was a new kind of suffering, one that clawed at my mind and soul. Worse still, I realized the bitter truth: I was truly alone. No one was coming for me.

Growing up in an orphanage has it's perks one of which is my ability to beat down an opponent or wrestle anyone without fear. My skills were sharpened by the uncountable fights I had engaged in over the years. I even have scars to show for the few times I had lost, so Seun never saw me coming.

Without explanation, my leave was canceled. It was my first-ever request since joining the hotel, yet it was denied without reason. I was livid. My plans crumbled before my eyes, but there was no one to fight for me, no justice to be found. I swallowed my anger, wiped my tears, and dragged myself back to work. By the 23rd of December, the managers and their assistants had all conveniently taken time off, with instructions that I must ensure the smooth running of the entire food and beverage section. That meant longer hours because of the peak season, more pressure, and the annoying responsibility of ensuring that the Rich Big Babies (RBBs)—my not-so-secret nickname for the elite customers who were a pain in all the wrong places—were well taken care of. At this point, I should paint a vivid picture of my so-called promotion. Almost every junior staff envied my new position, but that's because they were ignorant of what it entailed. If they knew the reality, they wouldn’t have. It was nothing more than a glorified title—extra responsibility with no additional benefits. Alongside my usual junior staff duties, my workload doubled. Did you know that every Christmas season, the streets of Germany come alive with open-air markets known as Christkindlmarkt (the little city of wood and cloth)? These historical markets usually adorn the beautiful market squares of cities only during the Advent Season and end on the Christmas eve in most cities. Although this tradition dates back to the middle ages, today they still resonate the  past.

Its another beautiful December day and I woke up to a very eventful morning. Calm down its not what you're thinking lol! So, out of habit I picked up my phone to check for notifications and saw a chat from an old friend (which I'm sharing with her kind permission) and our conversation got me thinking really hard.
