Christmas: Reasons to Be Merry
Its another beautiful December day and I woke up to a very eventful morning. Calm down its not what you're thinking lol! So, out of habit I picked up my phone to check for notifications and saw a chat from an old friend (which I'm sharing with her kind permission) and our conversation got me thinking really hard. I was deeply touched by her perspectives as our discussion progressed. In the end, she had reasons to be Merry and was excited for the season.
So, today I am going to share these reasons with you. Quickly grab a cup of tea or your favorite drink and have an open mind.
WHY SHOULD YOU BE MERRY AT CHRISTMAS
5. Its the Holiday Season - Oh I love the holiday season and Christmas just throws a load of it at us. It is the best time of the year to share happy moments with loved ones and friends, take a vacation, see movies, go on pilgrimages, retreats, travel back home or decorate the house with lights while sharing love and laughter. Christmas and the stress relieving holiday has a way of activating your inner glow especially when you immerse yourself in the festivities. In the end, there's usually no room for sad thoughts
4. Gifts gifts! Who doesn't love free gifts? As much as tearing off gift wrappers can be exhilarating, the truth is; there is more joy in giving than receiving. There is this pure joy you get when a little kid jumps with excitement after unwrapping a gift from you. The sensation is beyond blissful so ditch your bleak mood go shopping for a gift, visit the less privileged, volunteer at a kitchen or events for the poor and be the Santa they have been dreaming about.
3. The Carols - Christmas songs might be recycled but I still love them. Going to a Christmas Carol concert is simply magical. I nearly shed a tear as the kid's sang carols at school some days ago. So, yeah; leave the house, walk into the nearest church during a Carol or just ask Google for an event near you and sing your heart out.
2. Birth of our Savior - If you're a Christian then this, definitely, should be a great reason to enjoy and be merry at Christmas. Christ's birth and coming signifies how God loves and cherishes humanity despite all our shortcomings. This season gives us an opportunity to welcome our loving messiah into our hearts and homes especially because he sees and accepts us with all our baggages, mistakes and failures.
1. You Are Alive & Healthy - Being alive and healthy is the best gift. It provides us with another opportunity to make positive changes, make new plans, re-evaluate, cherish the new day and progress at a set pace. Therefore failure of any sort, be it an inability to accomplish set tasks or meet up with expectations should not plunge us into depression nor should it make us think less of ourselves. Actually, failure should help us to learn, improve and become better. As such, it should not bring us misery but spurr us to keep pushing forward.
Okay, at this point I'm might be sounding like a motivational speaker but I'm sure you get the point and are eager to enjoy the holiday with your family, friends or new acquaintances.
