RIPPLES E. 8

[ Previously: E.7 ] The dreadfully creepy ringtone rang out again and this time Bam Bam hurriedly answered;  "You're here? Good. Yeah you can come over and with the umbrella, don't forget." She called the Police? Kene cursed his luck yet again that evening. Of all the cars in Abuja why did I have to drive into the Ice Queen's car? Just a small bumper and she has called the police. What am I going to do now? With my account in red I can't even afford anything. I won't go to jail for this oh, God please you need to help me !

[Continue from  Episode 6 ] "Mommy I love Bam Bam and I cannot wait to make her my wife. But she - she keeps hurting me deeply and whenever she acts like this, I get really worried. She is no longer a kid so I really don't understand." "I am sure there is an explanation for her behavior. My daughter is a princess and knows what is expected of her. But be rest assured that my husband and I will talk to her so you have nothing to worry about." Mrs. Metuh assured him. "Thank you ma. I'm feeling much better already." "Oh that's good to hear. Trust me, it's a  phase and you have to be patient with her. She loves you." "I am inlove with her and I promise to be patient." Mrs Metuh smiled and nodded at Dapo with approval. Chief grunted and spared him a glance before lifting his wine glass to take a sip.

[Catch Up on Episode 5] "Really? How long has this been going on?" Mrs Metuh queried.  Dapo was about to respond when Chief's voice cut him off; "Oh Nonsense. I know my daughter. She is probably chairing a crucial meeting or working relentlessly on a project." "I knew you would defend her, like father, like daughter." Mrs Metuh giggled and leaned into her husband;  "But Chief, our daughter works too hard. How will she settle down if she continues like this? I want grandchildren and I am sure you can't wait to spoil them." "I will talk to her when she gets back."  He leaned down and gently kissed her forehead. She sighed softly and glued her body to his side. Dapo watched them with concealed envy.  Chief chuckled as his wife whispered in his ears. He turned piercing eyes towards Dapo; "Your father mentioned you are interested in the red chamber. I must say I'm impressed. Tell me more about your plans for the future."

[Catch Up On  E. 4 ] "Dapo. What a pleasant surprise." "Good evening Chief. Good evening Mommy" "Hello my son how are you?" "Very well. Mommy you look amazing as always." Dapo flattered the beautiful middle aged woman who always reminded him of Sade.  "At this age? Chief did you hear our son in law?" She laughed elegantly and placed the business magazine she was reading earlier face down beside her on the sofa.  Dapo managed to smile tautly at the graceful middle aged couple who were now staring at him as he stepped into their stylishly furnished spacious living room, a perfect blend of European and African designs brightly illuminated with led recessed lights and a crystal chandelier hanging from the roof. The brilliant light bounced off matching heavy drawn curtains and highlighted the luxurious, homey and amiable ambiance of the Metuh family home which failed to appeal to Dapo that evening.

[Catch up on- Ripples E.3 ] Ominous silence lingered as the rain poured down, unrelenting. They could hear the wind whistling, goading the heavy torrents hitting the roof of the car like children rehearsing their unversed drumming skills. Fierce lightening marked the skies, revealing other cars parked along the wet road. The defeaning sound of thunder  tore through the tangible silence, roaring as  if the heavens were angry at the earth. Kene noticed the Ice queen flinch beside him. His fingers itched to grab her stiff body,  to comfort and  keep her safe from the storm. But he knew that would only result in him being tossed out in the rain. He quickly discarded that thought and tried to work up a tune in his head with the rhythm of the fierce rains and the clicking sound of the hazard light she had turned on to warn any approaching vehicle. Smart move, he acknowledged, but her battery would end up being drained if the rain persisted for a long time.  Angel Kene. How  e  take concern y

Covid -19: The Way Out For Our Students

Image
Lol! This statement got me laughing and thinking hard. Its no secret I'm indifferent about bbnajia2020 or any Big Brother before now. I have never been a fan. If you enjoy it, then good luck with it. My main concern is the issue of reopening of schools, especially public schools. We all know it is almost impossible for public schools to run online lectures or classes because of the nature of our system and other obvious setbacks. A student asked me if government will give them free data...lol!  I am actually going to suggest a possible option that can be explored by the government which I believe with proper monitoring will make it possible for our students to go back to school in the near future.

Experts say Agriculture is a low-risk investment that keeps pace with inflation and increases in value over the long-term.  They describe investment in Agriculture as a tangible asset that provides benefits to the community, adding that it can diversify the investor's portfolio. Why pepper? PEPPER FARM This is planting of pepper, sale and sharing of profit among investors. Pepper is the most consumed food after Garri & Rice, and can be used for so many purposes e.g soup, stew, pepper, snacks, added to many roasted foods and lots more. The beauty of pepper farming is that it requires little stress in cultivating, can be intercropped with maize, beans & soya beans and this brings so many returns.

[Catch up on E.2 here ] I don't know what to do about the lady sitting beside me in the warm luxurious car. From the way she is angling her body away from mine, it's obvious she either thinks I am a lunatic or a serial killer about to dice her into tiny pieces. But that is the least of my worries. The question driving me insane is; how in the world will I be able to repair her car when my current net worth is fifty thousand naira? Okay, minus thirty thousand for my kid sister's upcoming exams from that. Being an orphan, my sister is my world and I would do anything to see her happy, even if it requires starving myself. Considering also that my rent is overdue for payment, I am actually worth less than the balance of twenty thousand naira. To make my case worse, even if I decide to sell my car, the only property I inherited from my late father, nobody in their right senses would offer to buy a car that has been marked off road severally. Put simply, I am done for. Finished.

Corruption - We Can Do Better

Image
With the recent arrest and investigation of  the Acting Chairman Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)  for alleged corrupt practices I've been asking myself;   The media is agog with stories of Ibrahim Magu today who will be the next tomorrow ?Why did it take so long for these allegations to  be discovered and made public? Why now? Are the  allegations  being made public probably because he offended someone/a godfather (stepped on toes)? If that's the case, does it mean that if you are loyal to "some people" or have some high priority affiliations, then all your looting and sundry illegal activities will be overlooked until there is a fallout? Is it not yet time for us to ACTUALLY fight corruption in our country instead of the selective judgement and media trials we have seen over and over again?
