AWESOME GIFTS TO MELT HER HEART 1

Image
DO YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW TO KEEP HER GLUED TO YOUR SIDE FOREVER? THEN READ ON... G ifts! Everyone loves a little package.   Even the good book encourages us to give more so as to receive more. For some people, there is more joy in giving than in receiving. For most ladies, receiving gifts at any time is sheer bliss. These ladies do not see it as being selfish or Nigerian, in fact, receiving wrapped packages are part of the wooing process and a sure way   of showing appreciation for what they go through for their men... clearing my throat Guess you are wondering why I should be discussing this topic, besides gifts are personal, right? Well, I love sharing gifts with friends and I have seen and experienced first hand the whole man and woman drama,SORRY RELATIONSHIP, so I know how hard it is to go in search of a gift item that would not be frowned at or dumped in the trash can, a gift that would tell volumes about the depth of your feelings and the energy you exerted while ri

TESA...

T esa wiped off the tears streaming down her pale face as she trudged through the bushes.   The wind whistled in her ears and the long grasses grabbed and tore at her skin. She stumbled for the second time and paused to catch her breath. She was a long way off from where she had concealed her car in the thick grasses.  The night was cold and very dark, but she had mastered the path like the back of her hands, hands that were still quivering from dragging her heavy load through the grasses and to its final resting place. No single star had come out to witness her union with the darkness that had being her life, the overwhelming darkness that had finally swallowed her.

WHO ARE THEY?

Image
SPOT THE DIFFERENCE At the sound of their arrival, I rushed out with my dustbin and was met by a smiling young man. He greeted me amiably before taking the bin from me. I watched him hand it over to another young man who dumped the contents inside the big truck. Handing my bin over to me, they waved briefly and headed off towards the next compound. That was when the stench hit me.   Covering my face, I ran back into my compound but the pungent odor pursued me closely. I ran inside, slammed the door behind me, hurriedly shut my windows and increased the speed of the fan. The stench from that truck is best imagined. I wondered how those young men could survive days and months behind that truck! Why do they work without gloves and boots unlike their counterparts in Europe and other countries?   Are they even adequately paid for the services they render? If you are living within the FCT, I am sure you must have noticed these garbage trucks and their occupants. Their major d

BRING BACK OUR GIRLS...

Image
They never cared about the abused and neglected Nigerian child. All they cared about was the wealth and their immediate family. The abduction of the Chibok School girls and the recent outcry all over the world has exposed us to the reality that the Nigerian child has been neglected and ignored for too long. Nigeria is unarguably a country where the government remains cold to the flagrant abuse, neglect and exploitation of our children. A country where many children are exposed to inhumane treatments, a country where the right of the girl child is overlooked and scarcely respected, a country where the unlawful union of an old politician and a girl child is swept under the carpet, a country where the children are yet to feel the effects of the Child Rights Law , a country where there is no concrete plan for a better future for the children. It is therefore not surprising that many Nigerian children have been and are still being abducted, murdered, neglected and abused. It is n

ASPARTAME (SWEET KILLER)

Image
It was a very hot day, so the moment I settled down into the comfortable chair, I popped the cap of my chilled drink. I must confess that there is nothing as refreshing as drinking a chilled bottle of low sugar beverage after working so hard in the sun.I closed my eyes and enjoyed the awakening and refreshing effect of the cold liquid.   The feeling is better experienced. Just then my friend tapped my shoulder gently; “What’s that you drinking, abi you don sleep?” “Sleep kee? You need to taste this new product. It’s just wow!” “I hear you. Just make sure it does not contain Aspartame.” “Aspar what?” That was the first time I ever heard those words. We scanned the contents of my drink and there it was ; CAUTION: ASPARTAME . That was how the whole gist started. Aspartame! It has a cute ring to it but I got to know that there are over 92 different health side effects associated with it. Studies have shown that Aspartame d

AIR CRAFTS OR AIR CASKETS ?

Image
You call them air planes, I call them air caskets . Don’t get me wrong, it’s just that the thought of boarding an air craft in this country does not only make my heart to stop beating, but it definitely keeps me awake all through the night before my flight. I now understand why our leaders spend so much on private jets.  I am sure you are wondering where I am headed with this. Sincerely, I had forgotten about the last air crash and the very recent drama of how passengers almost suffocated and rioted because the air conditioning system of Arik Air Lagos to New York flight of March 31 st remained off for over an hour after passengers had boarded the air craft and the cabin doors were closed prior to take off. In fact, I had succeeded in ignoring that news until recently. Four days ago I read about another aviation drama and suddenly, all my doubts about this sector resurfaced. The news was that the windshield of an aircraft belonging to Overland Airways with 57 passengers on

DAY OUT WITH SMART KIDS

Image
Kids can be very smart and these kids nearly floored me. “And that was how the tortoise fell from the sky and broke his shell.” I concluded my story with a wide grin on my face and happily looked at the young children staring at me with rapt attention. Even their teacher was also engrossed. Nikky, you are still good . I praised myself and tried not to guffaw. When I was a kid, I used to love such stories. My grandmother; “God bless her soul” loved telling us such tales by the lamp light. There was never electricity back then. She was a great narrator and all she expected from us was our undivided attention. “That story is a lie!” A high shrill voice brought me back to reality. Who said that? I asked myself and searched through the young and admirable faces for who was trying to pour sand into my garri. “Be quiet Anthony!” Their teacher scolded harshly. That was when I saw the kid. He had a fierce scowl on his face and piercing eyes. He looked like tro

You can't fool some people on April Fool's Day

Image
I got this from a friend. I loved it. I hope you will..  Enjoy Just can't fool some people on APRIL FOOLS' DAY.... Last years April 1st.. A woman wanted to play a prank on her husband to know how her hubby would react if she left without telling him where she had gone. So she decided to write him a letter saying that she is tired of him and didn't want to live with him any more and after writing the letter, she put it on the table in the bedroom before hiding under the bed.   When her hubby came back home, he saw the letter and read it, he also wrote something on it and then he began to sing and dance while changing his clothes. He got his phone, dialled someone then said: "Hey babe, am just changing clothes then will join you, as for my old madam, it has finally dawned on her that I was fooling around with her all dis while and has left... THE NIGERIAN IMMIGRATION SERVICE INTERVIEW- Where is the Love?

Image
Bruno is an unemployed Nigerian who had participated in the Nigerian Immigration Service interview which was conducted on Saturday the 15 th of March 2014 and which resulted in the death of innocent Nigerians. This is his detailed narration of the events of that faithful day : I had to be there to witness it for myself. How could I miss such an opportunity for anything in the world? I woke up very early, dressed up and headed for the Abuja stadium. It was 7 O’clock Am when I got there. The moment I got down from the car, the first words I uttered were OMG! The crowd was unbelievable. The whole ground was covered with young people all dressed in white. I could bet that some people actually slept at that stadium the previous night. The crowd reminded me of the finals of the FIFA under 17 world cup of 2009. That day I had prayed fervently for the stadium not to collapse under the weight of patriotic Nigerians who had come to cheer the Eagles to victory.

PARK AND PAY...

Image
Naija sef. Sometimes, I just laugh at this country and we, the citizens. Nigeria is generally known and accepted as a country where “ anything goes ”, a country where the citizens just sit back and accept any policy thrown at them, a country filled with very Religious people who wait on God to come and do almost everything for them . I am not saying we should not trust in God. All I am saying is that most of us sleep on our rights a lot all in the name of religion , while some go about killing poor people like them also in the name of religion. Instead of doing things right and getting positive results. Anyway, I won’t derail. If you are a resident of the FCT, then this is not news to you. In fact it is an old gist. However, like every old wound, the scar still runs deep and sometimes reminds us of the pain. Sometimes, the wound remains fresh and even though it is old, it keeps causing untold pain and hardship. It was a week day and like every weekday, I had been wor
