YES YES YES!

I said yes Nikky. I said yes yes yes to his proposal.

We had friends in common and eventually became just friends. Somehow, he became my motivator, confidant, comedian, my fresh juice business sponsor and adviser (since I didn't have a job, he encouraged me to start something and I did). When his office transferred him to another city, he became my telephone pal and although I was forming no feelings because i knew he would never be mine, I still  couldn't help but trip for this remarkable gentleman.


After a long while, I stopped trying to figure out why he preferred my boring company whenever he was in town and would laugh at all my gibberish without getting tired. I decided to live with it and would look forward to his visits.

Last week oh! Just last week, he took some days off work and stopped by my place. As always he got me a gift. He said it was a wristwatch and since he was hungry and I never rush to open gifts, I thanked him and we continued with making breakfast. After breakfast, he prompted me to try out the watch so I picked up my gift, opened the box and cocooned inside was a tiny shimmering box. My heart summersaulted. I became confused and slowly picked it out, my fingers were shaking. I opened that tiny box and turned towards my friend. He was grinning at me in the strangest way.

Nikky, you know I am a talker...I can talk for Africa but that day, I lost my voice. I instantly became a crier. My tears could drown a paper boat. He knelt down and asked me; the prude, hipless, hairless, jobless fruit selling girl in the words of the several guys who found their ways out of my life, to spend the rest of my life with him; the extremely smart and handsome guy I never dreamed would be mine.

For someone who has given up on love, this is definitely my Valentine miracle. We have started making plans and can't wait for the rest of our lives to begin.

I pray that every lady gets to experience this intense feeling someday. Trust me, someday someone will make you forget all the heartbreak and all the love you've given away will find it's way back to you.
