Afloat Season 3 E. 1

We do not remember days, we remember moments.

'Why do you do this?"

"Do what?"

"This stupid arrangement. Am I missing something? Help me to understand..."

"He asked me to bring you here so I did just that."

"If he asks you to drown yourself? Would you do that?"

David flashed a blinding smile at her; "If you are sure you don't want to eat anything, then let's go home. I'm aware that you have an early morning tomorrow."

"Are you going to tuck me in as well?

David finished up his drink and signalled to a waiter who briskly strode over with an ipad and POS. He pulled out a card from his wallet and tapped it on the POS. A low sound was heard followed by a soft appreciation from the waiter. He watched the waiter walk away before turning to meet Tricia's angry gaze.

"I understand you're upset but he has a genuine reason for missing your day. He called last night and asked me to plan and organize everything on his behalf because he wants you to enjoy this moment. I am only here to make sure you are happy."

They were alone in a private room of one of the best hotels in the city at the behest of her man, Alex. The private room was dimly lit and tastefully designed with balloons and flowers. Flameless candles lined the floors giving off a romantic ambience. A large, creatively decorated cake stood near the buffet and the mini bar. It was her birthday and she was supposed to be happy yet she felt like strangling someone.

When one of Alex's bodyguards came to pick her up at work after their phone fight earlier that night she instantly forgave him for forgetting to wish her a happy birthday and  envisioned he had planned a surprise for her. Without hesitations, she cancelled her plans with her girls, rushed home to glam herself up simply because she thought her day would end with her man. When they arrived at the five star hotel and she was ushered into a private room, she was excited and eager for a quiet dinner with Alex but he never showed up.

Her emotions were crushed when David, one of his friends, walked in with a stupid grin and apologies.

David grinned as if pleased with himself. Tricia sneered at the well built man sitting across from her. His hand sewn white shirt and cologne screamed of sophistication but somehow it reminded her of Alex. She loved fragrances and would detect an expensive one from a distance.

Dude was as broke as her doorbell so how did he buy the same cologne as her man? Alex probably bought one for him, she concluded. But, why would he wear it today, on her birthday when he knew Alex was not in town? Her detective brain questioned as she stared at him suspiciously.

Whatever his game plan was, she would never be interested in his penniless life just as there was no way she was ever going to forgive Alex for missing her twenty fifth birthday. Never.
