Onitsha Bleeds

Onitsha burnt
We watched; helpless with fear, with rage!
Oh that fire!
It was a glimpse of hell
Disconsolate, we wailed to the high heavens
Years of hard labor, souls of the innocent; all went up in flames.
Loved ones forever lost.
Our hearts bled.

But it was Lagos,

The memories are still fresh
We had watched in despair.
Our compatriots, properties all sizzled in the inferno.
The relics, a bitter reminder of our agony.

And there were many others before.

When will it end?
Who regulates petroleum/fuel tankers?
Who monitors for compliance?
Who should be held accountable?
Who will make sure the victims are adequately compensated?
Who is next?
When will my Nigeria be great?
