I weep For My Country (Fresh attack on students in Yobe State)

I was miserable when I heard the news of the attack on and massacre of the students of Federal Government College Buni-Yadi in Yobe State in the early hours of this morning while they were sleeping in their hostels.

29 children or more! I screamed with utter disbelief. Even animals deserve better. Many thoughts raced through my mind as I tried to resist the urge to weep for my country.

Why would young men invade a secondary school just to slaughter innocent, young children?
What offense did these harmless children commit?
What are our leaders doing about these indiscriminate killings?
Where were the Nigerian Police Force, the Nigerian Army JTF and other security agencies?
Why would our security agencies and agents guard only first class citizens and not our schools, offices, markets, homes?
Are we still safe in this country?
Are some people more Nigerian than others?
Why are the decent citizens of this nation suffering unjustly?
When will our country be peaceful again?
What of their parents, relations and loved ones, how are they going to deal with the loss?
Sincerely, I think our leaders have derailed. I think most Nigerians have forgotten that we do not have another country. The reality is that we are stuck with each other, no matter how difficult it is for us to tolerate our obvious differences.

Nigerians must learn to live together so as to move this country to greater heights. We must resist any form of victimization, acts of corruption, desire to murder or maim each other and ignore people who try to manipulate us with religion, people whose children are tucked away in foreign countries. We must learn to love and live in peace.

May the souls of these young and innocent children rest in the bosom of the Lord, Amen.

  2. Anegbe Anthony Asemokhai. Its so sad that innocent citizens are being slaughtered like animals in this country. To me, it has reach a stage where every person in this country deserves to own a gun. Nobody has the monopoly of violence. If the social contract that we impliedly signed with our government can no longer work, then let everybody have a gun for self defence. I cannot imagine a person who cannot defeat me in a fight come with a gun and elominate me simply because l am an obedient citizen. The police or any security agency cannot be in everywhere at the same time. It is time for the citizens of these states where Boko Haram is prevelant to come togethe and fashioned out ways in which they can corraborate with the Local Governments, states and Federal Government on how to find a lasting solution to this hydra-headed and dreaded Boko Haram. If Boko Harams are not carward, they would not have been targenting the venurable like school children who are defenceless. If it is the government that is their enemy, let them take up arms against thegovernment rather than cawardly killing innocent cituzens who may not be happy with some of the policies of the government. The spirits of those persons who they have cut short their lives shall invicibly fight and destroy all of them. Amen.

  3. It is indeed sad the way these terrorists are bullying the security agencies in these states and taking innocent lives all in the name of "religion". As for Anthony calling for all to acquire arms, all I can say is that even Boko Haram had such lowly beginnings too. Yes the government might seem to be overpowered at the moment but I really can not imagine how they will cope when everyone including BH has guns.

  4. I agree with troublemaker every citizen owning a gun is not the solution to our problems.

Some people are ignorant. Majority of Nigerians are unemployed or under employed. People are hungry and angry. people are frustrated and it did not start today. it started before democracy. The military suppressed these people, but now they can no longer be suppressed.

I pity Goodluck. however the solution lies in state governments being autonomous and actually engaging their indigenous so as to generate internal revenue. they also have to spend the funds they generated on the indigenous and their states.

Literate and exposed people can never commit atrocities like these. So Education at all levels must be made free.
