Maitama, Abuja (Alex's Mansion) -

David settled into the comfortable leather sofa and took a sip of his drink as his gaze took in the lavishly furnished living room. The cool air seeping in from the wall vents relaxed his frayed nerves. The maid must have turned on the AC the moment they arrived, he guessed. A very diligent woman, David thought as he gulped down his drink and grinned with satisfaction.

Glancing at the wall clock, he realized it was ten minutes to midnight. He wondered if Tricia had fallen asleep as his mind slowly replayed the events of the evening.

Crazy, but beautiful woman. She should be asleep by now, he thought with a slight frown as he placed the bottle and his cup on the side stool before unbuttoning his shirt halfway. David scratched his twisted hairstyle fiercely, as if it could stop his brain from recalling how she had looked tonight. Her intentionally arousing outfit and exceptional beauty had almost made him lose his sanity, even though he knew she wouldn't have bothered dressing to impress if she had known Alex wasn't going to be there. He had to admit that acting nonchalant while he burned inside was the worst torture he had ever endured.

Alex was like a brother to him, and he would gladly fight anyone for him, but his anger at the hotel hadn't stemmed from a pure desire to protect Alex's interests. He was furious because Tricia had repeatedly thrown Alex's name in his face all night while he sat across from her, desperately hoping she would actually see him. He had even spent his hard-earned money to buy Alex's expensive cologne just for her to act as if he were repulsive.

David sighed with defeat as it finally dawned on him that he was going to lose his mind—either to the frustrating cold showers that no longer eased his desires, or to the dreams plaguing him every night. Dreams of her in his arms, writhing with unrestrained passion...
