MARRIED BUT SINGLE I
MY APOLOGIES FOR PUTTING IT DOWN. ENJOY...
The talk about neighbors awakened memories and I think it is fair to share.
It was a long time ago. At that time, a girl friend of mine was living with me. Let's call her Gloria. A very adorable and adventurous young lady. Hard working too. We got home from work one evening and noticed a truck in front of the vacant house next to mine. Well, people had been trickling in to check the house out, so we were not perturbed. By late evening, Gloria confirmed that we were going to have a new neighbor. The news was such a relief or so we thought at the time.
The next day, we were aroused by the door bell. It was a Saturday and since we were not expecting any visitor, we ignored the bell. When the intruder persisted, I dragged myself out of my warm bed, trudged to the door and without another thought, unlocked and pulled the door open.
“Hello. Good morning.” A cheerful and unfamiliar voice greeted.
I looked up and froze. My eyes met and held the warm eyes of a tall, dark and celebrity look alike young man. The morning breeze blew the fragrance of his strong cologne into my face. The first thing that caught my attention was his broad shoulders and well defined jaw. The second was his disarming smile. I was confused and instantly became very awake.
Well, that was how I got introduced to my breathe taking new neighbor. In the weeks that ensued, our routine changed. Gloria noticed that he jogged every morning. So, we decided to join the early morning joggers. After all, we had always wanted to keep fit. After a week, I lost interest in the whole charade. Gloria persisted and before long, she scored.
They became good friends. Expensive dinners and gifts followed. Before we could finish celebrating her victory over all the girls on the street, she was cooking his meals and cleaning his very expensive and sophisticated home. Oh, I forgot to mention that my obviously rich, very handsome and kind neighbor was still unbelievably single and ready to mingle.
After a while, Gloria moved out of my home and moved in with him. They were in love and we were waiting for him to officially pop the question. Being a gentleman, he proposed to her at a famous resort. By that time, Gloria was dancing with the stars. Her dreams of marrying a wealthy and handsome young man had come true. Levels changed for her until that faithful Sunday morning...

ReplyDeleteIf you are a single girl, every time you find someone (guys)that pretend to cherish you, the 1st question is to ask if he is married or in any other relationship! Though the usual answer is "I'm single".
Girls have been trapped this way severally.
Each time, the story is different. Somehow you may never know that *we are married, and always think we can't be, especially if we say we are not! I think as a gentleman that I claim to be now there ought to be a law out there that can punish a man for conning single woman into a relationship! It is a fraud!
It is so unfair on women. Severally they have been called rubbish and a family wrecker, when they had no idea that, the guy they are involved with is married. Now tell me how does a woman know if the guy is married or not, especially for the first 6 months. He may only take you to his apartment 4 months after you get to know each other better, and even in his house there is no sign of any woman's belongings, it may be very untidy just as you will expect some bachelors place to be.
But to be scolded at by some women and to be cheated and have your time and effort wasted on a married man! Which woman would willingly waste her time and efforts on someone elses husband or boyfriend? Don't misquote me please, when I'm talking about women here I'm only refering to women with dignity and pride, not average Abuja girls (hustlers) that prefers married men because they pay better.
" Me and Abuja girls? God forbid" I can't even wish them to my worst enemy. ( I'm only sounding satirical here please) let's not kill the truth alive here.
The men get away with murder; Time, money, emotions of love and caring! All these things cannot be reclaimed! How does anyone think it is fair to steal another persons Time and love and it's always deliberately done! There should be laws out there that can prosecute this crime of love. Cases of Sugar mummies and daddies exclusive, because the actions here are deliberately intended.
Gloria can borrow a clue from here and know that all that glitters may not be gold. What has mere proposal get to do with marriage when the nuptial is not yet tie?
